Abstract

579,626. Valves. BLAW KNOX, Ltd., and CONACHER, J. E. June 9, 1944, No. 11110. [Class 135] A valve controlled nozzle for supplying a fluid under pressure, such as air or steam, to powdered or granular material, such as cement, comprises a nozzle 1 and a valve plunger 2 with an opening 3 through which the fluid can pass. The plunger 2 carries a resilient washer 4 adapted to seat on the surface 16 of the nozzle to close the outlet, when the supply of the fluid is cut off, under the tension of a dome or sleeve 8 of resilient material, such as rubber, which also serves to seal off the nozzle from ingress of the powdered material. An opening 9 in the sleeve 8 allows the passage of the fluid when the valve is open as shown.
