Abstract

546,868. Perforating apparatus. EKLUND, J. E. Sept. 2, 1941, No. 11213. [Class 100 (i)] A printing-machine is constructed with means for perforating printed sheets so that a sequence of a certain number of perforated and a certain number of unperforated sheets are produced by mounting a perforating rule 6 in the printing-plate 3 and controlling the position of the rule 6 by means of a cam shaft 1 formed with a series of raised parts 2 and also depressions. At each operation of the press the shaft 1 is rotated by a ratchet 7 and pawl 9 carried by a member 8 which is normally raised by springs 10 above type height and is depressed at each printing operation. A spring-pressed ball engages recesses in the shaft 1 to lock it in adjusted position, and the relation of the raised parts 2 to the number of ratchet teeth 7 determines the sequence of perforated and unperforated sheets.
