[Class 80 (ii) [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXVII] The subject-matter is described in Specification 546,821, but the claims are directed to a power transmission system having means for automatically initiating and effecting changes from one gear to another, and which is provided with means for synchronizing the engine speed with the vehicle speed prior to the re-engagement of the drive following upon automatic selection of the new gear which latter means are differentially responsive to the speeds of two elements, one of which is driven from the engine and the other of which is driven from the load through a pilot gear box or transmission providing velocity ratios corresponding with those provided by the gears of the main transmission system, which velocity ratios in said pilot gear box or transmission are selectively engageable, to corresponding with the gear about to be engaged in the main transmission by means which also select said gear about to be engaged in the main transmission.
