Abstract

546,448. Milk &c. pails. TURNER, Ltd., S., and PLINT, A. F. July 2, 1941, No. 8349. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii)] Lids for milk or other pails s are formed of two circular sheets 1, 2 of metal such as steel or brass, the edge of one sheet-the uppermost in the construction shown-being folded around the other, the sheet forming the underside of the lid being fashioned into a depending spigot portion 5 of triangular section between which spigot and the edge of the lid is a recess for packing material 7. As shown at the left-hand side of Fig. 1 the engaged sheets may be formed into a shallow depending flange 8. The central portions of the sheets are secured together by spot-welding, by the attachment rivets of the handle if such is provided, or by both means. The peripheral portions may also be spotwelded.
