Abstract
545,009. Wiring systems MORTEN, L. G., and O'BRIEN, J. F. July 29, 1940, No. 12301. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1939. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A cable comprises two or more conductors 16, 17 supported by a spacer strip 18 of yieldable material such as rubber with contoured faces 18a, 18b, in which the conductors rest, secured by a covering 19 of wound spun glass fibre. The conductors may be tubular and may themselves have an insulating layer 16a, of spun glass. Means of connection to the conductors may be afforded by sockets 10, as of rubber composition, each with a body with two recesses 15 housing clips 14 bearing on conductors 12, 13 (Fig. 4), the apertures 11 to the recesses being closed by resilient flags 11 a of soft rubber. The cable may be made in standard lengths 19a (Fig. 5) joined in series by connectors 10B, 10B<SP>1</SP>, electrically connected as by tapered pins 21 fitting within the conductors when tubular, or within socket terminals when of wire. In use for wiring a room, &c. the cable is secured by means of nails &c. passing through eyelets 20 passing through the spacers 18.
