Abstract
544,727. Conduits; two-part couplings. O'BRIEN, J. F. Feb. 7, 1941, No. 1655. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1940. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] A cable comprising tubular conductor 23 separated by rubber or moulded plastic insulation 24 and enclosed in braided glass wool 25 is slid into a special track in a length of conduit 21 of extruded or moulded metal or insulating material, the track being formed of a rib 26 and groove in the rear face 27. Alternatively, the track may be formed by a cover 44 and shaped surfaces 43 on ribs 42, Fig. 13. Individual conduit-lengths are interconnected by units 30, Fig. 5, or 50, Fig. 16. In Fig. 5, the units are in two adhesively attached parts and provided at each end with sockets 32 into which projecting ends of the cable are inserted, and with angular flanges 33 engaging within the adjacent conduit. The run 31 of tubular conductor within the unit 30 is connected to the conductor 23 by pins 35 having tapering ends, socket-outlet contacts 38 being also provided, together with screws 34 for fixing the unit to a wall or other support. The units 50 are unprovided with socket-outlets but have a through-pin 51 engaging the conductors 23 on either side.
