544,978. Window fastenings. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Nov. 5, 1940, No. 16110. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1938. [Class 44] A hinged window fastening, particularly described as applied to fastening a hinged windscreen of a motor vehicle, comprises a cylindrical casing 15 pivoted at 16 on a bracket 14 secured to the hinged frame 10 which carries the windscreen pane 11 and housing a rotatable but axially anchored screw 17 rotatable by a knob 18 to actuate a travelling nut 19. 'The nut has a projection 24 extending through and movable along a longitudinal slot 20 in the casing. The projection prevents rotation of the nut and also engages a fixed abutment 21 to draw a packing strip 12 carried by frame 10 into weather-tight engagement with the sill 13. When the fastening is released the casing may be swung upwards out of the way and held raised by a spring plunger 22 engaging a notch 23 in bracket 14.
