Abstract
544,922. Alternating current machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 25, 1940, No. 15711. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1939. [Class 35] A squirrel cage rotor has multiple section slots comprising large and small sections and means are provided for interrupting the continuity of the conductors in the small slot section. In Fig. 1, the sections are laterally displaced and joined by an inclined neck 14. Alternate groups of laminations are reversed and the inner large sections 16 aligned, so that as shown in dotted lines, the small sections 15 of successive groups are out of alignment. In Fig. 4, the large section slot is filled with side bars 26 and a central bar 25 extending into the small section slot where it is slotted at 23. In Fig. 6 laminations 43 without a small section are inserted at intervals in the laminations ; alternatively a non-conducting strip may be placed across the small section at intervals. The conductors may be cast and the slot sections may be filled with conductors of different resistivity. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also Fig. 6 (Cancelled) in which the large section slot is filled with side bars 37 and a central bar 34 extending into the neck portion, where it is slotted, while the small section slot carries the continuous bar 33. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
