Abstract
544,668. Piezo-electric crystals. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Nov. 22, 1940, No. 16808. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1939. [Class 40 (v)] In order to compensate for the effects of varying temperature in a piezoelectric crystal arrangement comprising two electrodes 6, 7 and a crystal 1 disposed between them with an air gap, the electrodes are spaced apart by spacers 5 cut from the same crystal and at the same angle. The upper electrode 7 is clamped to the cover by means of a screw 10 and spring washer 11 with a spacer 9 of fused quartz. This is compensated for by a spacer 4 of fused quartz of equal thickness. Further compensation is effected by recessing the crystal into electrode 6 a distance equal to the thickness of the electrode 7.
