Abstract
544,577. Sulphur nitride. ARNOLD, M. H. M., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 13, 1940, No. 4693. [Class 1 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] A mixture for treatment of plants and seeds for control of fungi, insects &c. comprise sulphur nitride S, N 4 and iminosulphur S,NH both in solid phase; sulphur also may be present. Inorganic fillers such as anhydride and chalk may be added. The mixture may be produced by reacting ammonia with chlorides of sulphur dissolved in an organic liquid, e.g. carbon tetrachloride, separating the precipitate and returning the liquid to the process whereby after a number of cycles a substantial proportion of iminosulphur is obtained in the precipitate which also contains sulphur nitride and sulphur.
