Abstract
543,948. Proofing permeable materials. ROSENZWEIG, S. Oct 25, 1940, No. 16704. [Class 140] Bristles, hair, sponges and similar albumincontaining fibrous materials are preserved by treatment with an aqueous solution of a silver salt, e.g. silver nitrate, so that an insoluble silver-albumin compound is formed in the material. The material may be treated with a swelling agent, e.g. sodium hydroxide, prior to or during the treatment, or with watersoluble gold compounds, e.g. auric chloride, before, during or after the treatment. After the treatment the material may be washed with water and washing may be alternated with storage periods.
