Abstract
543,540. Rotary duplicating machines. WRIGHT, A. J. J. Aug. 28, 1940, No. 13590. [Class 100 (ii)] A cam 21 rotating with the drum 1 of a mirror, script duplicating machine is provided with a dwell 22 which, in the "rest" position of the drum, i.e. the position in which sheets are fed to the bite of the drum and impression roller 7, is engaged by a roller 19 on an arm 18 mounted on a pivot 27 and urged towards the drum by a spring 20, the inward movement of the lever 18 also serving to raise the damping pad 16 clear of the path of the shoes. The pad is carried by a removable tray 23, Fig. 4, held by a spring clip 25 in a frame 24 also mounted on the pivot 27 and carrying an arm 30 having a lip 31 overhanging the arm 18. When the roller 19 is forced out of the dwell 22 by the rotation of the drum, the pad 16 is pressed downwards onto the sheets by springs 28 connected to rods 29 fixed to the frame 24. The impression roller 7 is carried by pivoted arms 8 and is movable into and out of operative position by cams, such as adjustable screws 11, carried by a shaft 10 rotatable by a hand lever 12. The damping fluid may be supplied to the pad by the apparatus described in Specification 543,541.
