Abstract

542,586. Moulds for concrete slabs. LEEMHUIS, J. C. P. July 18, 1940, No. 11877. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A mould 12, Fig. 16, for a concrete plate or slab 1 is lined at 15 with several plies of builders' paper joined together by an asphaltic or other waterproof composition. The bottom member 113 with recesses 112 may be made of aluminium, and has two integrally formed opposite sides 114, 115, the two other sides being secured by hinges 125 to depending flanges 117 on the bottom plate, so that the mould may be opened by swinging out two opposite side members which are held in place by bolts 126 extending between wings 127 on the side walls 114, 115. Core rods 135 are passed through the recesses, and through lugs 137 by which they are supported, these rods forming holes in the pillars of the formed slabs. The mould is mounted on a rectangular frame 140, 142 by fastening screws 143, and is clamped on to a vibrating table for the concrete mixture to be poured. The paper, after the moulding operation, adheres to the slab 1 and prevents the newly-cast article from slumping. After the mould is reversed and the slab 1 stripped therefrom upon a pallet, strong adhesion of the paper to the slab is obtained by steaming in a kiln.
