[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XV] A mould for the production of model buildings or building elements is formed by assembling standardized cores 4, 5 and other casting elements 3 upon a drawing 6 of the building or building elements and in conformity therewith, the drawing being supported on a board 1 and the casting elements being detachably fixed in position on the board, and there being interposed between the casting elements 3, 4, 5 and the drawing 6 a transparent sheet 2 adapted to permit fixation of said casting elements upon the board and to protect the drawing from defacement by the casting material during the casting operation. The casting elements are usually secured by pins 7 passing through a sheet of celluloid 2, but glass may be used in conjunction with clamps or other fixing means. In the example shown in Fig. 3, a wall of a castle is being cast, the top edge being castellated and a window frame 5 with key projection 5a is being incorporated in the casting. Stucco or timbered effects can be produced by putting fine gravel or strips of wood into the bottom of the mould. The transparent sheet may have a corrugated or other surface to give the effect of bricks. The drawing may be applied direct to the back of the transparent sheet. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the.board 1 has a back strut 8, and an open frame 9 for positioning on the transparent sheet 2 is provided with a hinged lid 10, the casting material being poured into the mould through a hole not shown, the lid 10 ensuring a definite thickness of wall. The casting material may be plaster of Paris, cement and sand, clay sludge or other castable material.
