[Class 69 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A nozzle for spraying cleaning fluid on fluid heating apparatus comprises a head 10 having staggered divergent walled orifices 1 ... 4 to give differently directed jets that together cover the required angle and the areas of the throat of the orifices vary in the same sense as the distances through which the orifices are required to discharge. The walls of each orifice make an angle of approximately 6 degrees with its axis and the throat areas lie between a quarter and a half a square inch. The nozzle may be cast in a mould including a metal core with removable tapering inserts for defining the divergent parts 13 of the orifice while convergent parts 12 are formed by chamfering the inner ends after the inserts have been withdrawn. Another method comprises forming the nozzle of a plurality of parts arranged to fit together, notching the edges of the parts to form orifice walls and then assembling the parts and securing them together.
