[Class 8 (ii)] A gas filter comprises a series of annular units l of sisal fibre &c. stacked one on the other, and a series of spacing baffles m interposed between the units and compressing their edges. The baffles may be made of the same material more tightly packed, or of felt, cork, wood, pottery &c. The edges of the filter units l may be cut away to receive the spacers. The filter may be supported from an axial rod h surrounded by a tube j. The gas may enter by an inlet u, pass down the filter and up through an outer annular space, and leave by an exit p.
