Abstract
541,312. Sand-blast. BROOM & WADE, Ltd., and ELWESS, E. Aug. 3, 1940, No. 12555. [Class 60] Sand-blast cleaning apparatus for sparking plugs &c. comprises a chamber 13 into which projects one or more nozzles 118 for aspiring abrasive from the bottom of the chamber and projecting it on to one or more articles held by a flexible cap 38 fitted airtight to an opening 30. The chamber has vents 26 covered with felt and its opening 30 is preferably formed in a neck member 31. The nozzle comprises an outer member 18 for the sand and an inner jet for air supplied at 21 by a detachable valved pipe which can also be used for blowing dust &c. from articles.' The rubber cap 38 has an inwardly or outwardly extending sleeve 44 or 39, Fig. 4, to receive an article which is preferably held by ribs 46. An external sleeve may be closed as at 42 and may include a clamp to grip the article. Portions of an article, such as screw threads, may be screened by internal or external sleeves of rubber or by plugs. The article is manipulated during treatment by means of its externally projecting part or of the external sleeve 39.
