540,949. Tubular heat-exchangers. HOLMAN BROS., Ltd., JOHNS, J. H., and MILLS, E. C. May 13, 1940, No. 8587. [Class 64 (iii)] An air cooler or other heat exchanger comprises a chamber 5 containing vertical gilled tubes 9 connected to headers which are so divided by partitions 12a, 15a as to direct the cooling water in an up and down course through the tubes. Vertical baffles 6 between the tubes direct the air entering at one side of the chamber in a sinuous course across the tubes to an outlet on the other side. Inverted U-tubes connected to a bottom divided header may be used in place of straight tubes between headers.
