Abstract
541,964. Cooling radiators for aircraft &c. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd., and MARTIN, A. M. April 30, 1940, No. 7751. [Class 64 (iii)] In a tubular heat exchanger having open-ended tubes, such as a radiator for cooling air supplied to the induction system of an aircraft engine, the tubes b are of oval cross section except at their ends where they are expanded to polygonal form. The tubes. in adjacent rows may be staggered. The tubes in the lower part of the casing are arranged in vertical planes, and the tubes in the upper part are arranged with their sides so inclined to the vertical as to direct the fluid around a partition g.
