540,788. Knitting. MILLS, R. K. Feb. 27, 1940, Nos. 8687/41 and 8688/41 (both divided out of 540,758). Drawings to Specification. [Class 74 (ii)] Relates to the production of a fashioned antiladdering stocking blank by rotational knitting starting at the toe end. At the termination of a blank, a group of needles continues to knit, other needles being pressed off. The pressed-off needles are gradually re-introduced by fashioning mechanism. Some needles at the edges also take splicing yarn. If the blank requires heel tabs to be added, partial slack courses may be put in at the edges to facilitate running-on to a heeling machine. Specifications 329,098, [Class 74 (ii)], 500,230 and 540,758 are referred to.
