Abstract

538,991. Knitting. SCOTT & WILLIAMS, Inc. Feb. 21, 1940, No. 3314. Convention date, March 28, 1939. [Class 74 (ii)] A two-feed cylinder-anddial machine is provided with means for knitting the rib top 6 of a stocking at one feed, the leg 12 from two yarns, one at each feed, and a split portion by reciprocatory knitting, the instep 16 being knitted of yarn from one feed, and the high splice 14 and foot 22 knitted of yarn from the other feed. The instep portion is knitted at the feed that was inactive during the knitting of the rib top, and the heel and toe are knitted at the other feed. Patterning in the leg and instep may be effected as described in Specification 380,986. Specifications 12722/13 and 196,124, [both in Class 74 (ii)], also are referred to.
