[Class 74 (ii)] The front portion 4a of the instep of a stocking &c. is knitted on to the initial instep portion 4 without interruption and simultaneously, the sole portions 5 are worked as direct continuations of the heels 3, and integrally with the instep. Finally, the toes 6 are knit. Since the sole portions 5 are shorter than required by the extent of the portions 3, pieces 10 are subsequently added by sewing or looping or are knit on in various ways. For instance, they may be joined on the edges 11.
