539,300. Unloading slips. BUHLER, GEB. Feb. 2, 1940, No. 2080. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1939. [Class 78 (i)] Means for transferring cargo from ships comprises a staith supporting one or more chain conveyers 2, 3, each in two sections 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP> adapted to be lowered into the hold, and one or more pneumatic conveyers 4, 5. The conveyers operate collectively and may be mounted on a lighter. The chain conveyers deliver to a shoot 9 directly, while the pneumatic conveyers deliver to it indirectly through the receptacle 14. From the shoot 9 the material passes through the bunker 10, weighing device 11 and bunker 12, thence down the shoot 7 into a barge. The lighter is provided with a storage bunker 6 which receives the combined output of the conveyers during the interval between the replacement of a filled barge by an empty one. A separate conveyer 15 discharges the bunker 6 after arrival of the new barge.
