Abstract

547,176. Lifting slings. COHEN SONS & CO., Ltd., G., and JAMES, R. May 13, 1941, No. 6184. [Class 78 (iv)] A lifting sling for loose material consists of a rectangular strip 1 of flexible material, the ends being provided with transverse metal plates 3 to which lifting chains 10 are secured. A similar central stiffener plate may be fitted as well as lighter stiffeners 13. The material may be prevented from falling out sideways by chains 11, 12, 14, 15. Longitudinal chains 5 take the weight of the material to be lifted.
