539,077. Tiles. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. March 30, 1940, No. 5751. Convention date, June 14, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 22 and 70] Tiles are made of a filler such as asbestos or clay and a binder having a cloud point between 20 and 100‹ C., comprising a mineral oil and at least one resin of the group coumarone, indene, styrene and their homologues, rosin-maleic anhydride-glyceride, rosin modified phenolic, run fossil and semi-fossil resins. A relatively high cloud point corresponds to a low rate of penetration and a relatively low cloud point a decreased tendency of the tile to sweat oil. If a high cloud point is desired a mineral oil having high aniline point is chosen, and this varies between 87 and 120‹ C. Resins which average about the pentamer or fine molecules of coumarone, indene or styrene are preferred.
