Abstract
538,598. Copying documents. KORESKA, W. Jan. 15, 1940, No. 904. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1939. [Class 100 (ii)] [Also m Group III] In a rotary duplicating machine, the damping roller is moistened by an absorbent strip extending into a container supplied with excess liquid to keep the strip saturated the excess flowing over an overflow edge into a reservoir. In one form, Fig. 1, the absorbent strip 25 is carried by a chamber 26 having a false bottom 27 which with end walls 28, 29 and the side walls of the chamber 26 forms a shallow liquid container. Excess liquid flows over the edge 28 into a reservoir 31. The liquid is supplied to the container from the reservoir 31 by an endless wick 33 passing between a freely mounted roller 32 and a driven roller 34 which squeezes liquid from the wick through slots 37 in the roller 32.' A conical extension 35 of the roller 32 and an internal conical projection 36 are formed with grooves to conduct liquid pressed out from the wick into the container. When the machine is stopped the liquid in the container flows through an outlet in the end wall 29 on to the bottom of the chamber 26 and thence into the reservoir. In a second form, Fig. 5, liquid flows directly from a reservoir 48 through a tube 49 to a container 42 having an overflow edge at one end above tank 51. A second absorbent strip 44 pressed into contact with the damping roller by an adjustable spring 47 and bar 46, regulates the amount of liquid applied by the roller to the copy sheets. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect: 91 comprises also an improved means for driving the duplicator and operating the master sheet gripping device. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted but forms the subject-matter of Specification 538,114.
