Wrappers.-A hand machine, for making capsules or wrappers such as a pharmacist would use, folds a strip of paper into a tube having a seamed joint, after having impressed in it indentations which cause the flat tube to open automatically when grasped, prints a desired device or inscription on the tube and cuts definite lengths therefrom to form the wrappers. A manually rotated roller d, Fig. 2, supplied with ink from a roller c to print on the formed tube, draws a strip 31 of paper through a tubular tapering guide 19 supported by a horizontal plate 14 secured to a housing b which carries the rollers c, d. At the mouth of the guide 19, spring- pressed shear-like members 26, Fig. 9, carrying rollers 27 press the strip into indentations 28 in the guide to form creases which make the wrapper open automatically. Alternatively, a spring- pressed roller may press the paper into a groove in the plate 14. Inturned flanges' 20, 20<1>, Fig. 6, on the guide 19 superpose the edges of the strip aided by flanges 21, 23, Fig. 5, on the plate 14. Flanges 25, 24 then fold over the superposed parts of the strip to make a seamed joint. The completed tube is led through a guide 1 to a spring-controlled knife 4 actuated to sever the tube by a cam on the spindle i of the roller d, the feed of the paper being stopped at this instant by a gap h in the periphery of that roller.
