Abstract

538,587. Television. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. Feb. 19, 1940, No. 1071/41. Convention date, March 16, 1939. Divided out of 537,878. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Synchronizing pulses of received television signals are obtained free from random pulses by means of a circuit including first a limiter 22, Fig. 1, to cut off the peaks of the random pulses, then a " line frequency modifier " 23 comprising a valve oscillator 40, Fig. 2a, having a resonant circuit 43 producing oscillations in synchronism with the synchronizing pulses, and a combining and limiting valve 24 in which the synchronizing signal is added to the oscillations generated by the valve 40, the synchronizing pulses being added to the peaks of the oscillations while random pulses are scattered down the valleys of the oscillations, the limiting action of the valve causing only the synchronizing pulses on the peaks to be passed to the " line-frequency generator " 25. In a modification, Fig. 3a (not shown) a multiple resonant circuit is provided to generate oscillations including harmonics and therefor having sharper peaks. In another modification, only the peaks of the generated oscillations are transmitted. Specifications 530,956 and 537,878 are referred to.
