Abstract

537,802. Kinematograph apparatus. BROOKES, N. E. (Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation.). May 7, 1940, No. 8198. [Class 97 (i)] Films fed together in face-to-face contact are separated immediately in advance of the gate so that their paths to the gate converge and air is squeezed from between them ; separation may be effected by a pin which also guides them into contact with lubricating pads. As shown, a pin 14 separates superposed films B, R fed to a gate 6 in a camera of the type described in Specification 398,339, and also causes them to engage lubricating pads 12, 13. The pads carry a light mineral oil which washes off in an alkaline developer, and engage the margins only of the films, and the pad 12 is carried by a bracket 16 pivoted on a pin 17 and urged towards the film by a spring 18. Intermittent feed is effected by teeth 31 on an arm 21 sliding in a pin 29 journalled at 30 and rocked by an eccentric pin 22 on a gear 23. The gear 23 is driven by a gear 24 carrying a pin 35 operating a registering pin 9 and itself carried by a shaft driven through worm gears by a vertical shaft.
