Abstract

537,593. Copying telegraphy. CREED & CO., Ltd. (Western Union Telegraph Co.). May 14, 1940, No. 8639. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Groups VIII and XIX] Paper for electrical reception of facsimile and picture records is made conductive e.g. by distributed particles of carbon or metallic powder, and coated, as by printing, with zinc sulphide with or without other pigments e.g. barium sulphate, cadmium lithopone, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, lead oxide or mercuric sulphide and mixed in linseed oil &c. One or more coatings e.g. 0.00008 to 0.00015 inches thick may be applied e.g. a coating of mercuric sulphide may cover or be covered by a coating of zinc sulphide. The blank may be scanned.at 300 volts which appears to remove portions of the coating to disclose the contrastingly coloured paper beneath. Specification 537,067 is referred to.
