Abstract

537,454. Gasholders. DEMPSTER, Ltd., R. & J., and SCOTT, J. W. April 10, 1940, No. 6445. [Class 54] To prevent iceformation in waterborne gasholders steam is circulated through a pipe 5 supported by a framework close tc its inner wall. The pipe 5 may be looped around the gas inlet and outlet pipes and may be arranged just below or just above the water level. Steam traps 17 are provided at the lowest points of the steam supply and discharge pipes and the discharge pipe have a branch 18 fitted with a siren 19 or escape jet to indicate that steam is circulating. A vertical ring may be welded to the pipe 5 to increase the heating surface.
