Abstract

536,390. Heating and cooling buildings. KERSHAW, G. E. Feb. 27, 1940, No. 3618. [Class 64 (ii)] A partition in a building is formed by upright studs.A to which foraminous sheets 10, 11 are attached and then coated with plaster. A sinuous pipe coil 15 is arranged within the partition spaced from its sides, and is supported by bendable horizontal fins 16 welded to the pipe and to the sheets 10, 11. Openings 16c are provided in the fins, whereby bending due to thermal expansion is facilitated. Openings in the partition walls may be provided at bottom and top to allow circulation of air over the pipe. Heat is conducted from the pipe to the walls by the fins 16. In a modification, Fig. 7, uprights 30 of T-section are attached to thermally conductive sheets 37 forming the sides of the partition. A sinuous pipe coil 39, with fins 40, is welded to the uprights 30, and the fins are welded to the pipe and to a cover plate 35. The partition is coated with surfacing material 38. The pipe coil may be supplied with heating or cooling fluid.
