535,837. Softened rubber. BRITISH RUBBER PRODUCERS' RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, (Wentworth, V. H.). Dec. 1, 1939, No. 31245. [Class 70] In preparing softened rubber, latex is mixed with an emulsion of an organic peroxide and coagulation is effected by addition of formic acid, sodium silicofluoride or other coagulant which also breaks down the emulsion and causes precipitation of the peptiser in the coagulum. An emulsion of benzoyl peroxide and benzene in potassium oleate solution may be used. The coagulum is formed into sheets and dried in air at 120‹F. and may be afterwards smoked.
