Abstract

535,795. Automatic circuit-breakers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and KEELEY, F. J. Nov. 22, 1939, No. 30587. [Class 38 (v)] The pivoted operating-handle 2 carries pivotally at 15 a latch 14 which carries a roller 17 normally engaging the end of the closing lever 16 and deflectible by a weighted, unbalanced lever 3 pivoted to the handle at 4, if the handle-speed is too low. The lever 3 is urged in the anti-clockwise tripping direction by a tension spring 5, this force being overcome by the centrifugal force of the lever provided the operating speed is adequate. Movement of the lever 3 in the tripping direction near the ends of the travel, when operating-speed is necessarily slow, is prevented by cams 9, 10 engaging a roller 11 on the lever. The handle is latched closed at 20, 21, and an overload trip 19 is provided.
