Abstract

1,195,210. Automatic circuit breakers. AIRPAX ELECTRONICS Inc. 23 Oct., 1967 [23 Feb., 1967], No. 48145/67. Heading H1N. Individual automatic circuit breakers are provided with means whereby a plurality of adjacent breakers whose operating handles 21 may or may not be linked together are all tripped open if an excessive current flows in anyone. The circuit breakers are of the kind having a pair of contacts opened or closed by a handle 21 through a toggle linkage 27, 28 held in the straightened condition by a latch assembly 34 releasable by an extension 55 of an electromagnet armature 53 to open the contacts under overload. A lever 70 is pivotally mounted at 75 and has an arm 72 arranged to be stuck by the pivot 29 of the toggle linkage during tripping. The other arm of lever 70 is provided with an abutment 71 which acts upon a trip bar common to all the adjacent circuit breakers. Arms 68 of the bar 67 co-operate with the armatures of each of the other circuit breakers to open all of them.
