Abstract

535,343. Alloys; annealing. INDIANA STEEL PRODUCTS CO. Oct. 4, 1939, No. 27204. Convention date, July 17. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Permanent magnets are made from iron alloys containing 17.5-18.5 per cent. of nickel, 8,5-9,5 per cent. of aluminium, 9.5-10.5 per cent. of cobalt, and 4-6 per cent. of copper. The alloys are cast below 2700‹F., heated at 1500-1800‹F. for 1-3 hours cooled to below 950‹F. at an average rate of not more than 2‹F. per minute, machined, heated at 2000-2300‹F, per “-1 hour, cooled to below 1250‹F, at 5-100‹F. for second held at 1000-1250‹F. for 1-10 hours, and cooled in air. Specification 431,660 is referred to.
