Abstract

535,259. Springs. SOC. ITALIANA PIRELLI. Oct. 2, 1939, No. 26988. Convention date, Oct. 3, 1938. [Class 108 (iii)] A rubber spring consists of two sets of metal plates 1, 4, alternating with one another and connected by rubber blocks 3 united to the plates, the sets 1, 4, being so connected that the blocks are compressed in a direction perpendicular to the planes of the plates and subjected to shear stresses in directions parallel to the plates. The blocks may have a reduced cross-section at the middle by stepping or curving, and are dimensioned according to the formulae, where X and Y are the linear or mean linear dimensions of the blocks in the directions of shear stresses, Rd is the deformability ratio in respect of the said shear stresses, Cz is the linear dimension of the blocks in the direction of the compression stress and V is the total volume of the blocks.
