Abstract

535,247. Bottling &c. ROBERTS PATENT FILLING MACHINE CO., Ltd., BICKERSTAFFE, A., and EDGE, K. Sept. 28, 1939, No. 231/41. Divided out of 535,218. [Class 125 (ii)] Bottles &c. are filled by suction from a vacuumtank 25, the vacuum from which passes via channels in discs 41, 42 and pipes 38 to interceptor-tanks 36 which separate out entrained liquid, and thence by pipes 37 to the filling heads. Disc 42 is rotated and is pivoted with a channel such that tanks 36 are opened to the atmosphere once per revolution, when suction-closed valves 40 open to permit liquid to pass from the interceptor-tanks to a filling tank 28 kept filled to a constant level. The bottles &c. are carried on a rotary table 21 and are reciprocated vertically by pistons 45. The apparatus shown is portable.
