Abstract
535,080. Mechanical relays. LOBLEY, A. G., BIRMINGHAM ELECTRIC' FURNACES Ltd., FENNELL, C. A. F., and FOSTER INSTRUMENT CO., LTD. Oct. 17, 1939, No. 28047. [Class 118(ii)] In a mechanical relay device in which a pointer A moved in accordance with a'variable such as temperature is periodically depressed by a bar 2 and, if deflected, causes the depression of one or other of two members 6 which control the variable and/or give an alarm as described in Specification 441,640, the position of the members is adjustable by the rotation of a shaft 13 by means of a key (not shown) designed so that its engagement with the shaft is accompanied by movement against a spring of a sleeve 28 connected to a rod 32 which operates via a lever 24 on a rod 21 which preventsdepression of the bar 2. The lever may also move a mercury switch 36 for interrupting the current of the primary instrument. The invention may be incorporated in a system such as that described in Specification 521,793, [Group XXXV], in which adjustment of means for controlling a variable is accompanied by a corresponding adjustment of a monitoring and recording device. The latter device in the present case would be adjusted by means of a bevel wheel 41.
