[Class 118(ii)] An order-telegraph system comprises a movable control member for controlling the engine, means for repeating the orders received, and means adjusted by the repeating-device for preventing the control member from being moved in the wrong direction, the repeating device being arranged co-axially with the control member. The apparatus comprises a pointer 1, Fig. 1, which indicates on a dial 3 signals from a transmitter, and another transmitter 7 which repeats the signals on another receiver near the original transmitter and also rotates a repeating-wheel 10 mounted in front of a dial 5. A wheel 4, also mounted in front of the dial 5, is secured to a shaft 11, Fig. 2, which has a U-shaped section 12 and carries known means for starting, reversing &c. the engines. The repeating-wheel 10 is secured to a shaft 16 which is journalled in the shaft 11 and carries a grooved wheel or sprocket 17 by which it is operated from the transmitter 7. A member 18 is slidable longitudinally along the shaft 11 and along a guide stud 19. This member has parts 20, 21 with circular cam grooves 22, 23, Fig. 4, respectively, on their inner surfaces which can be engaged by projection 24, 25, respectively, on the wheel 17. In operation, when a signal is indicated by pointer 1, the engineer repeats it by turning the transmitter lever 7 and the wheel 10, and thus rotates the wheel 17. Movement of the wheel 17 causes the projection 24, 25 to force the member 18 to one end of the other of its range of movement along the stud 19. In either position, an abutment 28 or 29 on its outer surface engages one of the arms 30, 31 of the section 12 of the shaft 11 and prevents the control wheel from being turned in the wrong direction.
