Abstract

534,769. Winding yams. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.-GES. Feb. 22, 1939, No. 5868. Convention date, June 23, 1938. [Class 120 (ii)] A cop winding machine has the winding spindle and traversecam driving shaft and the shaft controlling the bobbin changing device enclosed in a dust- and oiltight casing, a main shaft in the casing and driven from outside it having a driving element keyed thereon for driving the bobbinchanging control shaft and a driving element for the spindle and cam rotatably and axially movable thereon with a clutch between the two elements ; the clutch drives the spindle and traverse cam when the driving element therefor is pressed towards the other driving element. As shown the main shaft 1 journalled in the casing 2 is driven by friction gearing 5, 6, the disc 5 being pressed into contact with the driving disc 6 by a spring 8 disposed between a collar 9 on the shaft and a grooved ring 12 carrying a clutch fork 13 on a shaft 15 keyed to a hand lever 14 carrying an adjustable stop 19 normally engaged by a projection 20 at one side of a strap 21 oscillatably mounted in the box, the other side of the strap carrying the resilient thread guide 22 which, when the thread breaks, allows the strap to fall and disengage the projection 20 and stop 19 so that a spring 17 rotates the lever and shaft 15 to move the fork 13 and ring 12 and disengage the disc 5, from the disc 6 ; the shaft 1 may be driven from an electric motor in which case movement of the lever 14 actuates a switch in the motor circuit. The shaft I carries a worm 18 keyed thereto and a combined worm 26 and pinion 27 rotatably and axially movable thereon, the worm 18 being geared to a pinion 40 loose on a shaft 41 controlling the bobbin-changing devices, the worm 26 being geared to the traverse cam 29 and the pinion 27 being geared to a sleeve 36 axially movable in the casing 2 and carrying the bobbin-driving head 35 ; the worm 26 and pinion 27 are driven from the shaft 1 through a laminated disc clutch 25. The pinion 40 carries a series of pins 42 any one of which can be engaged by a pivoted spring-controlled pawl 45 on a disc 43 fixed to the shaft 41 when an arm 49 is moved out of contact with the tail 50 of the pawl, the shaft 41 being then driven ; the arm 49 is mounted on a shaft 39 which is rotated when the bobbin is completed by a link 48 connected to an arm 47 on the shaft and when the shaft 41 is driven a cam 51 thereon moves a bell crank lever 53, 54, arm 59 and pivoted lever 60 to shift a pin 62 and consequently the worm 26 and pinion 27 so that they are no longer driven by the clutch 25 and are braked by a conical part 75 on the pinion 27 engaging a recess 76 in the bearing 3 of the shaft 1 with the result that the bobbin-driving head 35 is stopped while a cam 52 on the shaft 41, through a bell-crank lever, rod 70 and post 71 engaging the sleeve 36, retracts the head 35 to doff the completed bobbin ; other cams on the shaft 41 effect other functions for the complete doffing of the completed bobbin. After.a fresh tube has been engaged with the bead 35, the cams cause the pinion 27 and worm 26 to be moved into operative position and the head 35 to be moved forward to grip the fresh bobbin in the winding position, the shaft 41 being stopped by the disengagement of the dog 42 with a pin on the gear 40 after it has performed one revolution. The worm 8 may be loosely mounted on the shaft 1 and have a recess engaging a projection on a ring keyed to the shaft so that if the shaft 41 should become overloaded the worm will be moved out of engagement with the ring.
