Class 120(2) A bunch-building traverse mechanism for a bobbin winding machine having a rotated bobbin spindle and a regularly oscillated thread guide associated with the spindle, comprises a guide-wire movable into the traversing path of the thread for bunch building, means to move the wire to operative position and automatic timing means to end the period during which the guidewire remains in operative positon in predetermined respect to the number of spindle revolutions after such positioning of the guide wire, and is characterized in that the automatic timing means includes a member which may be set manually in any one of a series of timing positions.
