Abstract
534,561. Photo-electric light meters. TECHNICOLOR MOTION PICTURE CORPORATION. March 12, 1940, No. 4619. Convention date, June 9, 1939. [Class 40 (iii)] A meter for measuring the light incident upon, and reflected from, an object, comprises a meter casing 1 having a front opening through which the meter may be read and a photo-electric cell casing 13 having a front opening through which the cell is exposed to light, the two casings being connected so that they may be relatively rotated about an approximately medial axis in order that the cell casing may be turned to expose the cell either to the incident or reflected light without change of position of the operator or the meter casing. In the form shown, an adaptor with a cylindrical upper portion 8 and rectangular flanges 9, 10 is held in a rectangular opening in the top of the meter casing, a ring 19 secured to the inside of a cylindrical lower part 18 of the cell casing being rotatable on the portion 8 and retained against axial movement by a ring 25 overhanging it. The cell and meter are connected by flexible leads 14, and a stop pin 22 limits the rotation of the cell casing to approximately 360 degrees. In a modification, a cylindrical neck extending downwardly from the cell casing is rotatable in a collar screwed into the top of the meter casing and carries slip rings making contact with brushes connected to the meter leads.
