[Class 36] Spacing washers of ceramic or other non- resilient material are secured on the conductor 1 or conductors of an air-space cable, by forming the washers of complementary parts 2, preferably semicircular, which are held by circumferential bands, such as the metal band 3 held by a buckle A in a recess, Fig. 1, or a spring wire ring in a groove in the periphery, Fig. 2 (not shown). The central apertures are arranged to fit the conductor 1 closely, but a gap is left between the opposing diametral edges of the parts 2. The whole may be enclosed in a conductor as described in Specification 526,702. Specifications 467,268 and 470,760 also are referred to.
