533,408. Shafts and shafting. OAKDEN, H. Nov. 4, 1939, No. 29399. [Class 80 (ii)] An axle, shaft, or the like, comprises two concentric members 2, 4 each supported independently in its own set of bearings, 3, 5, a small clearance 6 being provided between the members 2, 4. During normal running the load is supported by only one of the members 2, 4. If this one should fail the load will be transferred to the other concentric member. The latter may be fitted with an indicator, such as a clapper 9 and bell 10, which rings when the second concentric member commences to rotate.
