Abstract

533,116. Diaphragm valves. SAUNDERS VALVE CO., Ltd., and SAUNDERS, P. K. Oct. 10, 1939, No. 27604. [Class 135] A diaphragm valve of the kind provided with a compressor member for pressing the diaphragm against its seat, said member having a series of projecting fingers which inter-engage a series of diaphragm supporting toes projecting inwards from the valve bonnet has the compressor guided by one or more deep toes. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the valve is actuated by a screwed spindle 14 rotatably mounted in the bonnet 5 and engaging a nut 13 mounted in the compressor member 6. This member has a pair of arms projecting transversely to the plane of the weir 2 and provided with a series of transverse fingers 8, 9. The central fingers 9 engage grooves in the bonnet so providing a continuous surface right across the compressor in the plane of the weir. Toes 12 on the bonnet of considerable depth guide the compressor by contacting with its central cylindrical part.
