Abstract

532,322. Fire-extinguishing &c. NORTH, O. D., HALL, W. F., HUGH, P.G., and SCAMMELL LORRIES, Ltd. July 18, 1939. Nos. 20885/39 and 9034/40. [Class 47 (ii)] A transportable fire-fighting or like appliance comprises a pump and power unit supported by an open frame body adapted to be supported by hand at one end and having a central wheel at the other end under the pump and power unit. The unit is supported on brackets 12, 13 depending from side tubes 15, which may have poles passed through them when it is desired to lift the unit from the frame and carry the same. An internal combustion engine 2 drives a pump in a casing 1 and a fan in a casing 26, the fan cooling the engine by air draught directed by a hood 17. Suction pipes 24 for the pump may be held in position for transport by brackets secured to the frame. A casing 11 may house a hose. In a modification, an opposed twin-cylinder engine is provided, and a hose is permanently connected with the pump by a pipe at the centre of a hose reel.
