Abstract

531,275. Cycle hubs. CLARK, A. L. July 15, 1939, No. 20627. [Class 136 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] In cycle wheel hubs that are provided with a brake drum or casing 15 the hub bearing boss 22 at that end of the axle 10 adjacent the casing extends beyond the closure plate 23 of the. casing so as to prevent entry of oil into the casing and whereby the bearings 20, 23 are substantially symmetrically disposed relatively to the central plane of the wheel. Further, to prevent the entry of oil to the casing, an annular groove 24 is formed on the boss 22 and a washer 25 is provided. The axle extends through the raised middle part 27 of a bracket secured by end parts to the plate 23. The bracket has also an arm 29 by which the bracket and plate are anchored to the cycle frame and in which is mounted the sheath of a cable connected to the brake cam lever, the shaft of which passes through a part of the bracket. According to the Provisional Specification, an annulus of channel section is formed on the closure plate adjacent the bore provided therein for the bearing boss.
