Abstract
530,407. Wireless signalling; phase-changing networks. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. June 22, 1939, No. 18251. Convention date, July 30, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A phase splitting network comprises a pair of input terminals 1, 2 between which are connected in series a variable condenser K and a closed circuit formed of two parallel branches. One branch comprises a fixed condenser C<SP>1</SP>, resistance r, inductance L and variable condenser C. The other branch comprises an inductance L<SP>1</SP> and elements r, L, C identical with the corresponding elements in the first branch. The two coils L are wound on formers at right-angles to produce a rotating field. By manipulating a pick-up coil R mounted on the common axis of coils L1, L, a voltage of desired phase is produced at output terminals 3, 4. By suitably choosing the valves of L<SP>1</SP> and C<SP>1</SP> the desired splitting action is approximately obtained over a wide frequency range. Fig. 3 shows a network N of the above kind used to inject into the aerial circuit of a receiver RC a voltage equal and opposite to that received by interference from a nearby transmitter T.
