Abstract

530,377. Blast furnaces. DEMAG AKT.-GES. June 3, 1939, No. 16391. Convention date, June 4, 1938. [Class 51 (ii)] In a blast furnace having a dust collector a and eddy producing device b leading to a gas discharge pipe d, a safety device is provided to relieve the furnace of high pressures consisting of a counterweighted valve g arranged in a byepass pipe e leading from the dust collector to the gas discharge pipe d. The counterweight h engages a catch i when the valve g reaches its upper position. The catch is released by a remote control magnet k. The valve g may be actuated through electrically or pneumatically operated mechanism controlled by the pressure at the top of the furnace.
